Color Coded Effort Map of San Francisco, CA
Haight St Iconic Legs

People from around the world come to walk down famous Haight Street and trace the steps of iconic musicians like John Lennon, Jerry Garcia and Janis Joplin. This was the Hippie Revolution’s epicenter during the Summer of Love in the 1960s. Today the spirit lives on; hippies still line the sidewalks, as well as smoke shops, boutiques, vintage clothes shops, record stores, cafés, bars, restaurants and plenty of tourists. Two steep blocks divide the neighborhood into Upper and Lower Haight. Lower Haight is mellower, less crowded during the day and a popular spot at night. Upper Haight is perfect for people watching, and experiencing what the Haight is all about, diversity. Your best bet is to catch a Muni bus up, and down, the hill between the two sections.
